Battle of the Liquid Lips

Hey guys!

Welcome to the epic battle of the liquid lips! Today, I’ve chosen 5 liquid lipsticks from my collection that’ll battle it out to determine which out of the bunch is worth your cashola! I wore them all for a whole day and I documented my thoughts from first application to removal! Today’s contestants are; Australis Velourlips in PA-REE, Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Patina, Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Scorpio, NYX Lingerie in Embellishment and finally, TheBalm Meet Matt(e) Hughes in Charming! I wonder who will be victorious.

Holiday Gifts for $50 and Under!

Hey guys!

Like I said in the $10 and Under post and $25 and Under post, December is basically holiday month, I thought that I’d like to do a little bit of a series on gifts that you could purchase for others or yourself. These gifts will be suitable for Kris Kringle, Secret Santa, etc. and then of course just little gifts with your friends if you’re giving small gifts or you’re on a budget. This will also be the last post of the little series of holiday gift ideas! I’ve had a lot of fun researching things that are available for the holidays and talking about things that I think would make fantastic presents 🙂

gifts under 50

As I said in the last two posts, many of the gifts that I’ll share will be bath related mainly because it is a universal gift. Everyone deserves to pamper themselves and relax, not just women, so don’t be afraid to give these to anyone.

The first gift that I want to talk about is the Baylis & Harding Skin Spa Gown Set*
This set is super exciting to me! It retails for $30 at Big W and it comes WITH A GOWN. You can’t get more ‘at home spa day’ than your own white dressing gown and some special bathing creams and things. I have never owned a bath robe so I was so excited to put it on and basically wore it for the rest of the day after receiving it. The set also comes with a shower cleanser, foot soak crystals and body cream in lime, basil and sage scent, and a hand and body lotion in verbena and chamomile. This set has scents that I wouldn’t immediately be drawn to but I definitely enjoy the scents. It was a bit of a surprise that I like them as much as I did. They’re very relaxing scents and sage, especially, is very mentally cleansing. This set would be a fantastic way for your friend, family member or yourself to feel really special and relaxed.

The second gift that I wanted to talk about is the card game Marrying Mr. Darcy. I received this from my boyfriend for our second anniversary and I think it’s $50 at most board game shops in Australia. I love Jane Austen and this game is so fun. If you’re into board games and card games, this is right up your alley. You play as one of the Bennet sisters or other central female characters and you’re trying to marry your best match. So if you were Elizabeth, you’d try to marry Darcy or if you were Jane, you’d try to marry Bingley, and so on. You can also mess up someone else’s match by marrying their match before they can but you can risk becoming an Old Maid by doing that. Sometimes you can still win the game if that happens but you have to be very crafty haha.

9bd0457b77ea7393240404228d8ab75b

The third gift(s) that I want to talk about is the Grinch Gift Pack from Oh Deer Sugar! This set has some gorgeous treats in it that are exclusive to their Christmas collection. This pack will set you back $47.50 and is the cheapest of the gift packs. All of the other gift packs are near $50 but they’re too far over for them to be featured in this post but I would still highly recommend them! I love Oh Deer Sugar so much and I would love for them to get more and more attention because they’re still growing and I just really want them to be successful haha.

9bd0457b77ea7393240404228d8ab75b

The fourth gift that I wanted to talk about is LUSH’s Charity Pot! Not only is this a fantastic product but you’re basically giving a gift that also donates money to a grass roots charity that LUSH is supporting. I absolutely love everything that the Charity Pot is about. If I could hug this idea, I would because I just have so much love for this and I think everyone needs to buy Charity Pot because you’re donating money and you get a product back for it. This retails for $32.50.

9bd0457b77ea7393240404228d8ab75b

The fifth gift that I wanted to talk about is the Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks! They retail for $29 at Rouche Boutique and they’re pretty much my most favourite liquid lipstick, with the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks a close second. There are so many beautiful and fun colours that I’d recommend to anyone. The range pretty much has something for everyone which is pretty awesome and provided you know your gift recipients style, you shouldn’t have too much trouble picking one of these for them or yourself!

9bd0457b77ea7393240404228d8ab75b

And lastly, I wanted to talk about the Harry Potter and Star Wars colouring books! I only have the Harry Potter one pictured here but they’re around the same price if you go to the right places. The Star Wars one is $15 at Big W and $35 at Zing, so just shop around so that you find the best deal. The Harry Potter one is no more than $20 at Big W or Kmart, I’m not sure where I found it. They’re both fantastic colouring books if you love either of those things, and even if you don’t, there are plenty of colouring books and I’d recommend them all. They’re fantastic to relieve stress because you stop focusing on all of the things you need to do and just focus in on colouring in your favourite characters.

Review: Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick

Hey guys!

I think that you guys are well aware of my obsession with Jeffree Star’s Blue Velvet Velour Liquid Lipstick. Well, I thought that it was about time that I bought a few more shades so that I could make a little bit of a review and swatch post for you all! I know that this won’t be my last Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick post because there are a few more shades in the current line that I want to pick up and there will probably be new shades that I will need over time. Sorry, Mum.

Rouche Boutique sell almost every colour available and because they are Australian based, I purchase my Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks through them. Also, when you convert the USD to AUD and then add the extra shipping, it works out to be a similar price anyway. I just purchased I’m Royalty, one of their newest shades, Masochist, and Blow Pony. I love my purples and believe it or not, I don’t own any colours that even come close to any of these shades that I purchased.

So now I’m going to show you all what the colours look like on my lips!

Here is Blue Velvet on my lips. You’ll recognise this one from my Liptember posts because it was quite a popular shade for me to wear. It was such an odd first choice of lipstick but I didn’t own any Blue lipstick quite like this at the time of purchase and I just thought that it was so pretty. I didn’t expect to get anywhere near as much wear out of it as I have. I really love the way that it looks on me and I’ve so far loved how it looks on everyone else! Something about it just looks awesome on everyone.

A lot of people have said that the Colour Pop Ultra Matte Lipstick in Jellies is a dupe for this shade and while it may be in the same colour, not all blues were made alike #50ShadesOfBlue. I have a comparison swatch here for you guys so that you can all see the difference. CP Jellies has a much warmer base to it and for that reason, I do not like the way that it looks on me. I still think that it’s cool but it isn’t everything that I had hoped for. Blue Velvet, however, was everything that I’d hoped for. It just sucks that it is vastly more expensive than the Colour Pop Ultra Mattes haha.

12168021_10153474233152530_1378645633_n

Here is I’m Royalty on my lips. I don’t own any purple that is as purple as this lipstick. I swatched it on my arm next to MAC Heroine, Australis TOK-I-O, etc. and they all looked pink compared to this colour and I always thought of those shades as too purple to suit me even though I love them. However, this is surprisingly wearable! It is totally a statement lipstick, that’s for sure, but I think that it will really suit a lot of people because it is so cool toned purple.

12166691_10153468924512530_793992145_n

Here is Masochist on my lips. When I first got my new package from Rouche Boutique, I just had to put this shade on. It is so gorgeous and I can’t stop looking at this photo. It is basically my new favourite photo of myself because I can’t believe how much I love this colour on me. It is a medium-dark pink and I just think that it is super flattering. The only negative that I have about this product is the name. I know Jeffree tries to push boundaries with shades and names but yeah, I’m not so down for this name, like I wasn’t down for Abused. Regardless, this is still a beautiful shade and I would highly recommend it!

12166148_10153474228142530_1167686615_n

Here is Blow Pony on my lips. I really love this colour! I totally tried to match my jumper to my lipstick in this photo and I suppose that it paid off because the one and only Jeffree Star liked my photo and my instagram blew up. My boyfriend really loves this lipstick on me too, which is a total bonus, in my opinion. If you love your purple lips and aren’t game enough to wear as purple a shade as I’m Royalty, then I’d recommend giving this shade a go 🙂

The coolest thing about this product is that it is vegan, cruelty-free and lip and eye safe. You can wear any of the lip sticks as eye liners. That is so cool!!! I was thinking about doing an eye liner look with Blue Velvet but I wasn’t sure if I could. So now you can pretty up your lips and your eyes with this gorgeous product!

pink-divider-no-background-md

So that is it for my current collection of the Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks. I am really looking forward to the Christmas collection, namely Doll Parts and Androgyny. Are you excited for any of the Christmas shades and which currently available shades would you recommend that I pick up next?

I hope that you’re having a lovely day!

Big, Bold and Beautiful! Liptember Recommendations

Hey guys!

In a week’s time, I will be starting my month of bold lip colours, Liptember. I didn’t realise it was so close! The colours that you can choose for Liptember are; blue, green, orange, red, purple, yellow and pink. I’m ready and I’m going to share with you some shades that can help you to be prepared for the big, bold and beautiful month of September!

Australis Velourlips in MAL-I-BOO, NY-CEE, TOK-I-O and RIO-D.

It has been very evident on this blog that I adore the Australis Velourlips, so naturally, I’d want to wear them as much as humanly possible and incorporate them into my Liptember challenge. I actually don’t own MAL-I-BOO and RIO-D, which is why I wanted to use another photo to share them with you all but I think that at some point during Liptember, I’ll probably pick the shades up. I wear the other two shades regularly and can’t recommend them enough. Make sure you apply a lip balm before applying these so that your lips don’t dry out too much! You can purchase these from Australis or Priceline!

I own Blue Velvet, Violet, Pistachio and Chambord and I would recommend all of them. They are a cream finish, which can be problematic when you are trying to not get this kind of colour all over your face haha. The shades that I own are very pigmented and I’ve only heard that Citron and Key Lime have pigment issues. All of the colours that I own stain the lips, so you can even dab them with a tissue and they should still be opaque. You can purchase these from all over the place, unfortunately they don’t sell this line at Target in Australia, from memory. They do, however, sell the Wicked Lippies, although I don’t know that I would really recommend them. They do have some nice colours but the pigmentation is all over the place hahaha.

Zoe from NewbyToBeauty owns pretty much every colour of these Jeffree Star Lipsticks and I just recently bought Blue Velvet for myself. These lipsticks have so much hype online and I think that it is very deserved. The colours are stunning and they’re great quality for the money that you play. I buy my Jeffree Star lipsticks from Rouche Boutique but you can also buy them directly from Jeffree Star Cosmetics. I’d recommend buying them from Rouche though because they are based in Australia, they have great customer service and they have fast shipping! What more could you want?

Colour Pop Ultra Matte Lips in Mr. Blonde, Jellies, Dr. M and Be-Dazzled

8-ultra-matte-webs

There are so many more shades of these Ultra Matte Liquid Lipsticks but I thought I would just stick to the most recently released shades, which are actually shades that I picked up! I’m actually waiting on Jellies, Dr. M, Clueless and Midi, which I will be doing a review post on very soon. Just waiting on good ol’ reliable AUSPost (can you feel the sarcasm?).
I’ve heard some mixed opinions on these, most of the criticism comes from the fact that they are really drying but I don’t mind that. I’ve dealt with those Me Now Lip colours so I think that these will be fine. All matte lipsticks are drying, it comes with the finish but it is something to think about. These are incredibly cheap, which is why I wanted to mention them. But the shipping to Australia is rather expensive. You can purchase these from Colour Pop Cosmetics.

pink-divider-no-background-md

There are a lot of other brands bringing out similar colours like Pretty Zombie Cosmetics, LA Splash, Coloured Raine, etc. but I haven’t tried out the brand and neither have any of my close friends. Even BH Cosmetics have just brought out a line of Pop Art lipsticks, which feature similar colours, which might be of interest. I also know that MAC does amazing reds and has just brought out a blue with their recent Mattes collection.

I hope that this has helped some of you get ideas for Liptember or might just help you find where to buy unusual lip colours! I hope that you’re all having a beautiful day!
