How To SFX: Creating Gooey Burned Skin

Hey guys!

One of my most popular looks from last year’s 100 Days of Makeup Challenge was my Cordelia Foxx makeup look for my American Horror Story Week. I wanted to share how I achieved the look because it was pretty easy and pretty effective. I’m preparing for my next attempt at the 100 Days of Makeup Challenge so I thought it was a good time to revisit some of my past looks and explain how I achieved them. I do want to say I’m no makeup artist, I’m not a professional. I just like playing with makeup. With that said, I hope that you enjoy the post!

MOTD: Adele’s Hello

Hello… It’s me.

This song absolutely blew up on the internet and is still being sung constantly by pretty much everyone and their dog and I thought that it was about time that I honoured Adele’s gorgeous eyeliner and cheekbone contour by trying to recreate the look that she wore in the music video! I hope that you enjoy!

I used this Nikkie Tutorials tutorial to help me recreate this look. Because I was using this tutorial as a guide, I was also using a few elements that Nikkie was using from Adele’s SNL performance, like the glitter eyeliner.

Slimming down the moon that is my face and clean eyeliner that suits hooded eyes are two things that I cherish. They’re also two things that Adele’s iconic makeup features. Michael Ashton is her regular makeup artist but I’m not sure if he was the makeup artist for this music video. If anyone knows who it was, I’d really appreciate it!

I don’t tend to go so heavy with my neutral eye makeup but I was loving how this turned out. With a nice set of falsies, this look would be perfect! I love the song and I adore the makeup. I also loved taking some photos of myself where I wasn’t being my regular, cutesy self.

Thank you so much for reading my post and I hope that you are all having a fantastic day!

MOTD: Cry Baby

Hey guys!

Today I’m going to be showing you a look that I teased a little bit on my Instagram. I don’t know if I have talked about this here on my blog before but I adore Melanie Martinez. I think that she is a fantastic musician and her first album, Cry Baby, was released fairly recently. With the release of her new album, she collaborated with Lime Crime to create a lipstick to help celebrate and I fell in love with the promo image so I thought that I would try to recreate it to the best of my ability! I hope that you enjoy!

This photo was me trying to recreate the pose but no one can be Melanie. I kind of wish that I had a split wig that looked like her hair because I’ve always admired her hair.

I also edited on the tear drops because that stuff never translates well when I create it. So I cheated a little haha.

Naturally, I also took about a thousand photos.

Here are the products that I used to create this look:

NYX White Liquid Liner
NYX Macaron Lippie in Blue Velvet (it is a close dupe for Lime Crime’s Cry Baby)
BH Cosmetics Galaxy Chic Eyeshadow Palette
Face of Australia blush in O Peachy!
Face of Australia HD Brow Kit
Maybelline HyperSharp Wing Liner
Covergirl Clump Crusher Mascara
eBay Lashes

I also used the GEO Princess Mimi lenses in Almond Brown and you can purchase them from here.

There is a close up of my eye makeup that you can find on my instagram 🙂

I hope that you’re all enjoying your day and I hope that you have a great weekend!
Tomorrow is Talk Like A Pirate Day and I know that my friends and I are dressing up for it so there might be a bonus post on Sunday to do with that!

MOTD/HOTD: The Hobbit: Battle of Five Armies

For the last Hobbit movie, I thought that it would be cool to try to recreate elven hair for when I watch the movie. I lost my little bag of hair ties so I only had one hair tie and had to make do with what I had. So, this look isn’t perfect but I’m still quite proud of it.

Here is the look:

I tried to make myself look ‘perfectly natural’. Elves aren’t supposed to wear makeup but they look so damn good and us humans need some help if we want to look anything like them. I didn’t use any eyeliner, I just used eyeshadow to make my eyes stand out more. I also didn’t use any eyelashes, although I really wanted to.

My favourite part of this look is the hair.

I, generally, hate having my hair off of my face because I have such a round face but this didn’t look too bad. My brother took some photos for me so that I could show you what I did.

Firstly, I took the front section of my hair that would be my fringe, and I pulled it back into a ponytail. My fringe wasn’t in the ponytail because my fringe is too short but it stayed in place for this part. I didn’t want to secure my fringe with bobby pins so, I thought I would make a braided headband.
As you can see, I used my only hair tie on the ponytail at the top of my head, so I had to use bobby pins to keep the braids from coming apart while I worked on different parts of my hair. This headband also acted as a way to keep my hair away from my ears. I think that the exposed ears are what makes this look really elfy.
After pinning the headband down behind my ears, I finished this look off by braiding the ponytail that I made at the start of this look. I had to tie it with a ribbon – Disney style – due to my lack of hair ties!

And yes, it looks like I have bald patches. Its the curse of dying one’s hair a dark colour when your original colour is very light! It didn’t look so bad in real life, but at least this way, you can see the details.

I based my hair off of Arwen, Elrond and Galadriel. Wavy elf hairstyles. I really enjoyed not having to use any styling equipment to create this, making my morning relatively easy.

MOTD: Ain’t It Fun

I’m kinda late to the party on this but I recently watched Paramore’s Ain’t It Fun music video and I fell in love with Hayley Williams’ makeup! The specific makeup that I’m doing is from the scenes when she’s in the car. I’ve loved this song since it came out so I thought it was time to do the makeup for this!

Here is the video if you want to watch it!

And here is my version of the look!

I didn’t have any flat crystals so I suppose this isn’t 100% accurate, plus there needs to be two crystals on the outer eye but my gem things were so big that I didn’t want to put on another one. This look is super simple and I think it is really easy to recreate. I kinda wish that I had a wig that is closer to her current hair but this was all I had!

Hope you enjoyed this look!
