Review: Saavy Classic Powder Blushes!

Since I made the Priceline 40% off sale post a few weeks ago, I’d had my heart set on reviewing these blushes on my blog because I believe that they deserve a bit more attention. Saavy is a prettty underrated brand in Priceline pharmacies because it is quite cheap and sometimes cheap means ‘crap’ but in this case, it certainly doesn’t. The best part about these blushes is that they are only $5 AUD at Priceline, which is such a good deal for such a great product.

Here are the blushes!

L to R: Plum, Petal, Rose.

Plum and Petal are matte blushes and Rose is a satin finish. I, often, will buy matte blushes over other finishes because other finishes can be problematic for my preferences and I like to highlight my face to the moon and back so I’d rather just have a matte blush and not worry about the others. Rose just happened to be a really nice neutral shade and I thought that it would be a good one to pick up!

To my knowledge (which has served me well up until this point), there are 6 classic blushes in the powder blushes from Savvy. The only 3 shades I am missing are Cherry (darker pink), Silky Pink and another colour that I don’t think I would use – a nude/bronze shade. I am tempted to get Cherry but these blushes are just so pigmented and I can see myself becoming a clown with that shade, but one day when I buy better brushes, I may pick it up.

Here are some close up photos of each of the blushes:

This first blush is Plum, it is my favourite of the Savvy blushes that I own. I love the colour because it gives quite a natural flush to the cheeks, especially on my skin tone. This blush would suit any time of year but I think that it would best suit Autumn and Winter. This blush is really smooth and the photo looks like I haven’t even touched it but I’ve been using it almost every day for about a month. I would definitely recommend having a look at this blush in store.

Here is a swatch:

This second blush is Petal. It looks so scary in the pan because it is such a bright ‘Barbie’ pink but if you use a light hand – which is recommended for all of these blushes – then you won’t have any problems. This blush instantly brightens your makeup look and I think that it would be perfect for Summer!

Here is a swatch next to Plum:

And lastly, this is Rose. This blush is a much warmer shade of pink but it is definitely still in the pink family, rather than the coral family. I think that this blush is really versatile and a lot of people would really enjoy this blush. I have taken a closer photo of the pan so that you can see that it isn’t matte. The sheen on this is really pretty, which is why I wanted to buy it. The packaging of this one was a little flimsy and I am worried that it may break soon but I am thinking about buying a z-palette for these blushes and popping them out of these cases anyway!

And here is a swatch next to Plum and Petal:

I think that these blushes are an absolute steal for the price and quality. I’m sure that these could even be dupes for MAC blushes but I have never bought a MAC blush so I may just be saying stupid things. Regardless of whether they are dupes or not, I think that they should be shown a little more love because at only $5 AUD, you can’t get anything better, in Australia. They are only available at Priceline but I think that Priceline pharmacies are pretty well spread out in Australia, at least in the metropolitan areas. I definitely think that these match up to any drugstore brand blush, if not better other drugstore brand’s blush.

I hope that you are having a great day!

Fall/Winter Lipsticks!

Australia may be coming into Summer right now, but I love Autumn (Fall) and I don’t think I made enough fuss about the beautiful colours that people where in these seasons. I love Autumn because it is not too cold and I love the fashion and the makeup that go along with this time of year. I do want to point out that you don’t have to wear these colours in Autumn and Winter exclusively. Makeup is for anyone and everyone and you make the rules, so if you want to wear dark lips all year, go for it! If you want to wear brights all year, there’s nothing stopping you.

Here are my favourite Autumn and Winter lip colours:

When I think of this time of year, I think of Plums and Burgundy for my lips. I’m still not SUPER confident wearing a really dark lip (think MAC’s Cyber or NYX Soft Matte in Transylvania) but these are the lipsticks I would recommend from my collection. I also have a few more products that I would have added in here but they were more or less the same colour as the others so I will just mention them as opposed to showing them. I also have a photo to go with most showing them on the lips.

L’Oreal Caresse in Milady:

This is probably my favourite colour in the L’Oreal Caresse line. Its a beautiful plum-purple, glossy shade.

MAC lipsticks: Captive, Plumful, Russian Red

Russian Red

These are some of my favourite MAC lipsticks. Plumful was my first ever MAC lipstick, so it is really special to me! Captive is a satin, reddened plum, Plumful is a lustre, sheer plum, and Russian Red is a matte, brick red.

Milani Color Statement in Sangria:

I love this lipstick to bits. This and the Rimmel lipstick that I will mention later are dupes for MAC’s Rebel except this one is Matte and I believe Rebel is a Satin. The Rimmel one is a cream so I suppose this would be a closer dupe.

NYX Round Lipstick in Snow White, Soft Matte Lip Cream in Prague and Monte Carlo:

Monte Carlo

NYX Round Lipstick in Snow White is really pretty but it is almost too creamy? It slides around and I often have it on my teeth as a result but it is really beautiful and if you can find a no-fuss way to wear it, let me know! The Soft Mattes are some of my favourite lip products and Prague is one that I am constantly drawn to!

Revlon Balms: Moisture Stain in Crush and Matte Balm in Standout

I didn’t get anywhere near enough wear out of Crush while Autumn and Winter were here in Australia! I hope that there are still a few gloomy days left so that I can whip it out before Summer hits Australia like a tonne of bricks. Standout is my favourite of the matte balms! I have both reds and I really want the purple, that is something I would have added to this list if I had it!

Rimmel Lasting Finish 120 Cutting Edge, 128 Starry-Eyed. Kate 29. Kate Velvet 107.

120 – Cutting Edge

107 is a staple for me, no matter what time of the year. Its one of my absolute favourite lipsticks, the Kate Velvet lipsticks are fantastic, I own 3 and wish I owned all of them because there is nothing bad that I can say about them. 120 Cutting Edge is the other Rebel Dupe that I own, but as I said earlier, its a cream finish. It looks awesome though.

The other colours that I wanted to mention were L’Oreal’s Matte lipstick in Bloody Mary, it looks a lot like Russian Red and Snow White, and Savvy’s Matte Lip Cream in the purple shade.

I hope that you found this post helpful! I plan on making one for Spring and Summer colours very soon, so look out for that if you’re looking for some options for Spring and Summer!

Review: Calvin Klein Delicious Luxury Creme Lipstick

I just got one of my packages from OZSale and in the package was two of the Calvin Klein Delicious Luxury Creme Lipsticks!

I’ve never tried any Calvin Klein makeup and when I saw these on OZSale I thought they were pretty so I gave them a go and so far I haven’t been disappointed!

The two colours that I bought were Ethereal (coral nude) and Fusion (plummy fuchsia).

Both lipsticks glide on easily and they are extremely creamy. I’m not sure about their wear time but I would assume they’d stay on pretty well until you ate or drank. They do transfer but that is expected with this finish.

The smell isn’t offensive. They smell kind of like florally powder? I am terrible at describing smell. I don’t really have a problem with lipstick scents unless they smell like a toilet air freshener like some cheap lipsticks I own.

Here are the lip swatches:

I prefer Fusion but that’s mainly because I am drawn to that kind of colour. I do really like Ethereal though. I’m warming up to those kind of colours. I’ve just had a lot of trouble trying to find which sort of nude suits my very pale skin without making me look like a zombie hahaha.

I have seen these retail for $20 but I’m not sure where they are that price. They don’t sell this line at Myer as far as I’m aware, they do sell Calvin Klein though. I got mine for $3. I think people have said they’ve gotten them from eBay for a similar price, too.
