Welcome to My Latest Obsession

Hey guys!

Now I want to let you know that I’m writing this pretty spur of the moment and I had a much better post scheduled to go up today but you’re going to have to wait for the good and just read this fluff post for right now because I needed to express my feelings and maybe help you discover the best content on the internet (in my opinion, as of March 2017). You’re welcome, and I hope you enjoy.

Review: Jamberry Nail Wrap

Hey guys!

I was recently gifted a Jamberry nail wrap sample to try out. If you haven’t heard of Jamberry before, they are a company that make nail wraps in all sorts of patterns and styles. They are primarily available through sales consultants. I know that a lot of people have a lot of opinions about companies similar to Jamberry that have consultants who sell the products but I took the opportunity to try this product out because a pushy sales tactics doesn’t necessarily equal a bad product haha.

I was going to try to use the wrap on my bare nail, as is suggested but you can also use them over the top of nail polish, provided that it is completely dry. I thought with this style, it would look really awesome over a really nice shade of polish and I really wanted to try one of my new nail polishes that I picked up in the Priceline sale. This one is Essie’s Garden Variety and it is from their latest collection to hit Priceline.

The application process was really easy. All I had to do was size up the nail wrap to my nail and cut it so that it would fit the length of my nail. I then removed it from the plastic sheet and heat it up for a few seconds with my hairdryer on a low setting. I then pressed it on to my nail and smoothed it with a nail tool. I heat it up again while it was on my nail because I heard that that can help the adhesive to really bond to the nail.

So far, I’ve had the nail wrap on my nails for two full days and they’ve lasted perfectly. I’ve heard some stories of people’s nail wraps having flicked up at the ends and things like that after just one day of wear. Others have the wraps rip off into their hair. I haven’t experienced anything like that. The real test is to see if it lasts a full week, if so, I think that they would be well worth the price.

They have so many different designs and I just think that they would be really cool for special occasions. As I haven’t fully tested the product, I can’t yet say whether I would purchase them but I will update you guys next week on how this all went. I’d love to hear your experiences with them if you’ve bought from them or have tried out their products! So far, I am impressed with the product.

Disney Week: Mike Wazowski Nails

Today is the last day of Disney Week! I’m really sad because this has been such a fun challenge for me. It was a bit harder because this fell right into my exam time but that’s okay. I think I managed alright. Today is also the anniversary of the premiere of Monsters University!

I loved this movie when it came out, this movie and Toy Story 3 were great ways to celebrate two movies that we grew up with and I think that there were more adults than there were kids in the cinema when I went to go see it. For the last day of Disney week, I decided to do nail art inspired by Mike Wazowski. It definitely wasn’t my best nail art ever but I thought that I’d share it anyway because it was still really fun to do.

I did them pretty late at night and the thumb nail got a bit squished so that’s another reason I was a bit unhappy about how they turned out but yeah.

So I used a base coat and then applied Kelp Yourself from Sally Hanson. I love this shade and it was the closest shade that I had to Mike’s skin colour. Then I used a dotting tool to add the big white dot for Mike’s eyeball. I used White On by Sally Hansen for this step. Next I needed a darker green for his iris, so I used Wicked Witch of the West by Face of Australia on a smaller dotting tool. Then I needed a black for his pupil, so I used Midnight in NY by Sally Hansen. I wanted to make Mike’s eye really look like an eye, so I added a little highlight with the white polish and I think that it made it look much better. Then because Mike isn’t fully round, I wanted to make it look like he had horns on his head so I used Cafe Au Lait by Sally Hansen, to make it look like my natural nail colour again.

It’s not perfect but I had fun trying to make this work haha. Next time, I’d like to try doing this with just one Mike nail and the rest are just green nails!

I hope that you’ve enjoyed this series and I hope that you’re having a wonderful day!

Cinderella Week: Nails!

The Australian premiere of the live-action Cinderella is this Thursday and I thought that it would be fun to have a Cinderella themed week! The first post is about my nails! I’m super excited for this movie! My boyfriend and I will be seeing it to celebrate 18 months together 🙂

Here are the nails: IMG_0768 I’m wearing Sally Hansen Salon Manicure in Barracuda and topped it off with Sally Hansen Salon Manicure in Snow Globe! Barracuda is my favourite nail polish shade. Its so soft but it catches people’s attention. I think that it is the perfect summer colour! Snow Globe is a perfect glitter top coat, the glitters shine green, silver and blue and I thought that it would be perfect for adding some magic to the nails.

Have you seen the movie or will you be seeing the movie?

NOTD: Pokemon Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby Release

Today was the release of a remake of my favourite childhood game. I was so excited. As soon as I finished Pokemon X and Y, I had to buy one of the older Pokemon games to tide me over until this game came out. I had been so excited for the longest time. Anyway, I love dressing up for special occasions and as I’ve been getting more into nail art recently, I thought it would be fun to try and make the Hoenn Gym Badges on all of my nails.

When I was thinking about it, I remember saying, ‘there’s only 8 gym badges, what am I going to paint on my other two nails?’ and then I realised that this game is based on Ruby and Sapphire, so why don’t I finish the set with a ruby on one nail and a sapphire on the other!

Keep in mind that I am no professional, I’m pretty much only beginning to do this properly so they are pretty bad, and I’m still trying to get more control over my left hand painting my right hand haha.

Here are the pictures:

If any of you picked up this game, which version did you buy? I bought Sapphire 🙂
