I’m yet to see the movie but it’s a public holiday in Adelaide today so I might see it today! I hope that you enjoy this week’s looks!

September Wishlist

Hey guys!

Today, I wanted to talk about a few things that I’ve been really lusting after over the past few weeks. There’ve been a tonne of new releases from brands or holiday teases but I’m not really feeling anything I’ve seen just yet. However, there were a couple of products that have either launched recently or have been revealed that I really wanted to share with you all!

MOTD: Cry Baby

Hey guys!

Today I’m going to be showing you a look that I teased a little bit on my Instagram. I don’t know if I have talked about this here on my blog before but I adore Melanie Martinez. I think that she is a fantastic musician and her first album, Cry Baby, was released fairly recently. With the release of her new album, she collaborated with Lime Crime to create a lipstick to help celebrate and I fell in love with the promo image so I thought that I would try to recreate it to the best of my ability! I hope that you enjoy!

This photo was me trying to recreate the pose but no one can be Melanie. I kind of wish that I had a split wig that looked like her hair because I’ve always admired her hair.

I also edited on the tear drops because that stuff never translates well when I create it. So I cheated a little haha.

Naturally, I also took about a thousand photos.

Here are the products that I used to create this look:

NYX White Liquid Liner
NYX Macaron Lippie in Blue Velvet (it is a close dupe for Lime Crime’s Cry Baby)
BH Cosmetics Galaxy Chic Eyeshadow Palette
Face of Australia blush in O Peachy!
Face of Australia HD Brow Kit
Maybelline HyperSharp Wing Liner
Covergirl Clump Crusher Mascara
eBay Lashes

I also used the GEO Princess Mimi lenses in Almond Brown and you can purchase them from here.
If you use the code “PastelSparkles” you can receive a 10% discount!

There is a close up of my eye makeup that you can find on my instagram 🙂

I hope that you’re all enjoying your day and I hope that you have a great weekend!
Tomorrow is Talk Like A Pirate Day and I know that my friends and I are dressing up for it so there might be a bonus post on Sunday to do with that!

Review: ColourPop Ultra Matte Lips

Hey guys!

A couple of weeks ago, my Colourpop order arrived and I was so excited because two of the shades that I picked up were bought because I knew that I was participating in Liptember. I’ve heard pretty mixed reviews on this product but they’re mostly positive. I think that everyone is mainly excited that we have amazing liquid lipstick colours at pretty great prices.

I firstly want to talk about the price and shipping because for Australians, it’s really important at the moment with our dollar so low. The shipping on the website is weighted, so unless you’re getting a free shipping deal, this could be one pricey purchase for us. I ordered 4 colours and they were $6 USD each. With shipping added and price converted to AUD, each lipstick (with a portion of the shipping included) was about $12.50 AUD. I like adding in the shipping when I divide up the price because I like to see how it might compare to products that we can already by here. Note that this was before the stock market crash so things might actually be worse now than when I originally ordered.

So that makes this product more expensive than an Australis Velourlips. For the vast colour range, I think that a few extra dollars per lipstick is totally worth it.

The formula of these is like nothing I’ve used before. I’ve never used Lime Crime (thank god), Stila, Anastasia Beverly Hills or LA Splash, etc. It’s thinner than the Me Now Long Lasting Lipglosses but when it has dried on the lips, it feels a lot like the Australis Velourlips, but maybe a tad more drying. And of course, like all matte liquid lipsticks, these are drying. It’s expected. If you don’t like drying lipsticks, don’t go near this product. You can wear it with a lip balm underneath and it will be pretty comfortable, so I’d recommend doing that.

L to R: Midi, Clueless, Jellies, Dr. M

This product dries FAST! It is very watery and extremely pigmented and it dries within about a minute, so you need to work fast but you also won’t need to keep your mouth open for too long, for it to dry.

Hear are some lip swatches for you!

Clueless and Midi

Jellies and Dr. M

The picture where I’m wearing Clueless is probably my new favourite picture of myself. I love the colour and how it suits my skin. Midi looks just like my natural lip colour but it makes me look more done up. I can see this being a really versatile shade with liner and ombre lips and things. Jellies and Dr. M are very pigmented and they definitely make a statement. I remember saying to Caitlan and Zoe that I wished that there was an easily accessible dark green matte liquid lipstick and I think that Colourpop gave us exactly what we were asking for!

Overall, I am very happy with these lip products and I would like to buy more soon!

I hope that you are all having a fantastic day!

How Do You Solve A Problem Like Doe Deere?

I’m sure a lot of you have heard the recent scandal and I know by now a lot of people are sick of hearing about it but because I’ve followed Lime Crime and Doe’s history since about 2011 (you can find info here and here and lots of other places), I thought I’d make a post about what to do now!

I want to make it very clear that I am not going to judge you if you choose to buy anything from Lime Crime. That’s your choice and it is your money.

So, as I said, I’ve been following the happenings of the company for a really long time and I made it my mission to keep my friends and family and anyone else that I care about informed on who they were because there isn’t a lot of separation between the CEO and a company. Especially in this company.

When I first found out about Lime Crime, I fell in love with Doe Deere (Xenia). I thought that she was so beautiful, aesthetically and she had a really fun online persona. She never seemed particularly kind, she just seemed cool and she made great vegan and cruelty free makeup products. Here are some photos that I particularly loved:

I still love these photos now, I just like them for the look rather than the person showcasing it.

I knew a few people who were affiliates and back then, I was tempted to buy but thank god I had no money. It was around this time that I did some serious digging and found out about what she did behind the scenes and I followed her updates until about June last year when I just stopped following Doe and Lime Crime because it just made me upset. But now I’m back thanks to the hacking scandal. I’ve read a lot of things since people started boycotting Lime Crime and most people who weren’t educating themselves and also weren’t affected by the hack, are those who are staying loyal and, quite frankly, ignorant.

Doe’s History is Important.

A lot of what you’ll read about her past and Lime Crime’s is a reflection of how they are acting now. It is definitely a smart move to make yourself aware of this if you plan on dealing with the company.

So, What Now?

So, you might be wondering what the best way to use your products, if you bought from them. You could use them up and then never buy from them again. Or…

Throw it out the window of a moving car

Throw it from the highest room of the tallest tower

But I think the best thing to do is to become Doe because she’s clearly doing the right thing and making so much money from it!

~Love me or hate me, its still an obsession~

Honestly, all you can do is be smart. Become educated if you want to be educated. Make smart decisions with your money and if you choose to support or not, that’s your choice and you’re more than entitled to your opinion!
If you’re going to buy directly from the Lime Crime website, I’d advise you to get a prepaid card that isn’t linked to any bank account and use that instead of using your bank card or Paypal. No matter what Doe or Lime Crime has said, Paypal accounts were also affected. Its not worth losing all of your money and getting a bad credit rating for a $16 lipstick.

Review: New Australis Velourlips shades + Lip Swatches!

I was so excited for the latest Velourlips shades to be released. I was stalking Australis’ social media like crazy and this week, I’d been at the shops every day looking for them in case they’d been released without my knowledge. I really wanted to wear one of the shades on Valentine’s Day so I didn’t want to order the colours. I’ve reviewed the Velourlips in the past, you can read that post here. I have most of the colours now. I think I am only missing 3 shades out of 15.

Here are the new shades:

The dark colours were especially exciting to me. These have kinda been my substitute for the Lime Crime Velvetines, as I don’t want to buy them for a number of reasons and now they have more colours that are comparable. BUDA-PASH reminds me a lot of Lime Crime’s Wicked, which was a colour I almost bought Lime Crime for – shame on me. However, I think now that I own the colour, it is a lot darker than Wicked, which is good for me haha.

Here are the lip swatches:

This colour is like a neon-pink. It is pretty similar to the pink that they brought out in their original line but it’s lighter. I don’t own anything like this so I don’t even know what it could compare to. I guess it might be a warmer version of MAC’s Saint Germain? I like to think of this as a neon, strawberry milk shake shade. I don’t really see how this colour represents Italy but I like the colour, nonetheless.

This and RO-MA were two shades I thought I might skip in this collection. They both aren’t really autumn/winter shades but I wanted to have the whole collection. I do like this colour on me but I definitely think that I have colours like this in my collection. Revlon’s Love That Pink comes to mind. This colour also looks a lot like NY-CEE and MI-A-MEE from previous releases. Maybe if these two colours got together and became cooler, they would make BAR-THA-LONA haha.

This was the colour that I was most looking forward to. These types of shades are my preferred shades to wear because I think that they suit my skin tone best. I wore this lipstick on Valentine’s Day and my boyfriend said he really liked it. This reminds me a lot of the Savvy lip cream that I have, I’ll swatch it next to SHANG-HI! soon and make a post about dupes.

This was the colour that sold me this release. Both the name and the colour were perfect. I met one of my best friends in Dubai and we both love wearing dark-plummy colours, so this is absolutely perfect. I love the colour and I can’t wait to wear it a tonne in autumn/winter.

This colour looks exactly the same as my Bite Hyper Pigment Pencil in Bramble. These colours are super popular for autumn/winter and I love that I now have this colour in a matte formula. The colour looks pretty brown in the tube but it definitely doesn’t look as brown on the lips. I love this colour so much and I’m so glad that I bought it.

So, I definitely think that you should buy these if you can buy them near you. They’re definitely worth it. They can be drying but that’s expected, you just need to make sure you use a lip balm before hand and make sure that you don’t have dryskin on your lips haha. They’re only $9.99 AUD and they go on sale all the time so you’ll always get them at a good price.

Hope that you’re all having a great day!
