Project Pan: 20 Products in 20 Weeks!

Hey guys!

Today I wanted to introduce my 2nd project pan! After completing my first project pan one month ago, I was itching to start another one but this time, I’d know what worked and what didn’t and tailor it to my needs and goals! If you’re unfamiliar with ‘panning’, Project Pan is where you select a certain number of beauty products with the intention of ‘panning’ them. Panning itself can mean either hitting pan, or using them up entirely. Due to my lack of success with restricting spending on beauty entirely, I participate in Project Pans because they encourage me to understand how long it takes to finish a product and stops me from overspending that way. As the title suggests, this project pan will last 20 weeks (December 1st to April 20th) and includes 20 items. This time, I’ve included a few different products because I really want to get my money’s worth and remove them from my room clutter. I hope that you enjoy this post!

Review: Innoxa Under Eye Concealer

Hey guys!

Since I had a few issues with my Rimmel Match Perfection Concealers being empty when purchased, I went around looking for a new concealer to try out. I mainly need concealer for under my eyes because my foundation covers up most other issues pretty well. I decided to try out the Innoxa concealer even though I hadn’t really heard anything about it before. The main selling point for me was the fact that it was light enough for my skin hahaha. Anyway, let’s get on to this review!

This concealer is somewhere around the $20-25 mark, which is more expensive in Priceline. So, with a more expensive product, you might expect a better quality product.
The actual formula itself isn’t too bad. It has medium coverage and it sort of hides darkness under my eyes but not completely. It also has a really glossy finish and doesn’t set very well, which leads to a lot of creasing throughout the day. When I set it with a powder, the product bunches up a bit and it looks a bit weird under my eyes. I could get passed all of this if it wasn’t for my biggest gripe with this product.

For a more expensive product, I’d expect higher quality packaging. Now I don’t mean high end packaging, I know it isn’t that expensive, but I don’t expect the product to be standing upright on my counter and still have concealer spilling out of it no matter how tight I close the lid. I always assumed that the testers at Priceline and Myer were just messy from people being rough when testing the product but I guess I was wrong because I can’t travel with this product or even keep it in my every day makeup bag because it gets all over everything. It is just one big mess and I’m so disappointed because this is one of my first Innoxa products (first being an awesome lip liner) and I really disliked it.

I am really just trying to finish off this product because I’m not enjoying it and I won’t be repurchasing. If the packaging wasn’t such an issue, I might not be so harsh on it but you don’t want to buy a product and have it try to escape from you when you leave it after you’ve finished using it.

I much prefer the Rimmel concealer (provided that it is actually full) or the trusty Maybelline Fit Me Concealer. So for this one, I’d recommend saving your money and get something that is known to be good. Better for your wallet and better for your own piece of mind!

MOTD: Adele’s Hello

Hello… It’s me.

This song absolutely blew up on the internet and is still being sung constantly by pretty much everyone and their dog and I thought that it was about time that I honoured Adele’s gorgeous eyeliner and cheekbone contour by trying to recreate the look that she wore in the music video! I hope that you enjoy!

I used this Nikkie Tutorials tutorial to help me recreate this look. Because I was using this tutorial as a guide, I was also using a few elements that Nikkie was using from Adele’s SNL performance, like the glitter eyeliner.

Slimming down the moon that is my face and clean eyeliner that suits hooded eyes are two things that I cherish. They’re also two things that Adele’s iconic makeup features. Michael Ashton is her regular makeup artist but I’m not sure if he was the makeup artist for this music video. If anyone knows who it was, I’d really appreciate it!

I don’t tend to go so heavy with my neutral eye makeup but I was loving how this turned out. With a nice set of falsies, this look would be perfect! I love the song and I adore the makeup. I also loved taking some photos of myself where I wasn’t being my regular, cutesy self.

MOTD: La Muerte – Book Of Life HALLOWEEN LOOK

Hey, guys!

I’ve always wanted to do a La Catrina (Sugar Skull) look but I’ve always been super hesitant because they can be extremely controversial and offensive because it is a cultural makeup look. It also happens to be the standard ‘white girl halloween makeup’ each year. So to half get involved and get my cosplay loving self into action, I decided to try to recreate one of my favourite characters, La Muerte, from the Book of Life. If you haven’t seen this movie yet, I’d highly recommend it. It is one of my favourites 🙂

pink-divider-no-background-md

Dia de los Muertos is very important to me and while I don’t celebrate it in Australia, I do recognise it and I think that remembering our loved ones who’ve passed is really important. The final day of Dia de los Muertos is also my birthday, so I feel a special connection with the holiday haha.
For a little background on the holiday itself, November 1st is typically spent remembering children who have passed (Dia de los Innocentes/Angelitos) and November 2nd (my birthday) is spent remembering adults who have passed (Dia de los Muertos). La Catrina is the Lady of Death and she looks after those who have passed on and by remembering and praying for those who’ve passed, we are helping them on their second journey through the afterlife.

La Muerte from the Book of Life is La Catrina. In the movie, La Muerte rules the Land of the Remembered and her husband, Xibalba, rules the Land of the Forgotten. Xibalba hates the Land of the Forgotten so they make a bet concerning who the mortal Maria would marry out of either of her childhood best friends: Manolo or Joaquin. The winner would become the ruler of the Land of the Remembered.

I adore La Muerte and Xibalba so much that I had to buy the Pop figures. La Muerte was actually super hard to find!

Anyway, enough of that. Here is the look that I created for La Muerte:

12092372_10153450540997530_1606591121_n

I wore a wig that suited the look the best. I didn’t have a nice black wig to wear and I thought that this purple wig still gave a similar effect. I tried something new with this look. I actually tried out the glue eyebrow method of blanking out eyebrows. I used regular stick glue and a spoolie to smooth down my brows and then I powdered them with a translucent powder. I did this twice and then covered them with an orange concealer to mute the blue tones from my brows. After that, I covered my face in a near white cream stick foundation and it almost completely blanked out my eyebrows (as can be seen in the photos below), so I’ll try to do it a couple more times next time I try this method. The foundation is actually very pigmented, it covered most of my spots, so it is definitely a matter of repeating the brow cover process.
