100 Days of Makeup: 29-35 Goddess Week

Hey guys!

Today’s recap is of my makeup looks for Goddess Week! I have done many themed weeks in past challenges and for special occasions on my blog so it was a no brainer to include another themed week during this challenge! For this week, I decided to do 7 looks for my favourite Greek Goddesses. I hope that you enjoy!

MOTD: Christmas Looks

Hey guys!

For the last post on Pastelsparkles for 2015, I thought that I’d share the makeup looks that I did over Christmas. I went to four Christmas related events over the last week so I thought I’d share a few of the makeup looks that I wore. I only have photos for two of the four because the last two events were me rushing to get ready/not so interesting looks haha. I hope that you enjoy!

The first look was from Christmas Eve for my Christmas celebrations with my Italian family. I had a really great night with that side of my family. The second look is from Christmas day when I spent the day with my boyfriend’s family. I also wore Santa earrings from Cabochons n’ Crystals by Sherrell Burford. I’d definitely recommend supporting this little store because they’re local and affordable!

Review: Saavy Classic Powder Blushes!

Since I made the Priceline 40% off sale post a few weeks ago, I’d had my heart set on reviewing these blushes on my blog because I believe that they deserve a bit more attention. Saavy is a prettty underrated brand in Priceline pharmacies because it is quite cheap and sometimes cheap means ‘crap’ but in this case, it certainly doesn’t. The best part about these blushes is that they are only $5 AUD at Priceline, which is such a good deal for such a great product.

Here are the blushes!

L to R: Plum, Petal, Rose.

Plum and Petal are matte blushes and Rose is a satin finish. I, often, will buy matte blushes over other finishes because other finishes can be problematic for my preferences and I like to highlight my face to the moon and back so I’d rather just have a matte blush and not worry about the others. Rose just happened to be a really nice neutral shade and I thought that it would be a good one to pick up!

To my knowledge (which has served me well up until this point), there are 6 classic blushes in the powder blushes from Savvy. The only 3 shades I am missing are Cherry (darker pink), Silky Pink and another colour that I don’t think I would use – a nude/bronze shade. I am tempted to get Cherry but these blushes are just so pigmented and I can see myself becoming a clown with that shade, but one day when I buy better brushes, I may pick it up.

Here are some close up photos of each of the blushes:

This first blush is Plum, it is my favourite of the Savvy blushes that I own. I love the colour because it gives quite a natural flush to the cheeks, especially on my skin tone. This blush would suit any time of year but I think that it would best suit Autumn and Winter. This blush is really smooth and the photo looks like I haven’t even touched it but I’ve been using it almost every day for about a month. I would definitely recommend having a look at this blush in store.

Here is a swatch:

This second blush is Petal. It looks so scary in the pan because it is such a bright ‘Barbie’ pink but if you use a light hand – which is recommended for all of these blushes – then you won’t have any problems. This blush instantly brightens your makeup look and I think that it would be perfect for Summer!

Here is a swatch next to Plum:

And lastly, this is Rose. This blush is a much warmer shade of pink but it is definitely still in the pink family, rather than the coral family. I think that this blush is really versatile and a lot of people would really enjoy this blush. I have taken a closer photo of the pan so that you can see that it isn’t matte. The sheen on this is really pretty, which is why I wanted to buy it. The packaging of this one was a little flimsy and I am worried that it may break soon but I am thinking about buying a z-palette for these blushes and popping them out of these cases anyway!

And here is a swatch next to Plum and Petal:

I think that these blushes are an absolute steal for the price and quality. I’m sure that these could even be dupes for MAC blushes but I have never bought a MAC blush so I may just be saying stupid things. Regardless of whether they are dupes or not, I think that they should be shown a little more love because at only $5 AUD, you can’t get anything better, in Australia. They are only available at Priceline but I think that Priceline pharmacies are pretty well spread out in Australia, at least in the metropolitan areas. I definitely think that these match up to any drugstore brand blush, if not better other drugstore brand’s blush.

I hope that you are having a great day!

BellaBox July 2014: What did I receive?

I’ve been getting the subscription box, BellaBox, for the past 3 months and I thought I might start sharing what I’ve received in my box because it is different for everyone and I love seeing what other people received! I’ll talk about what I thought of the box at the end of this post.

This is a very bad photo of what came inside my box with information about each product. This is really helpful when I don’t get a full sized product because the sample sizes usually don’t have any instructions on how to use the product. However almost all of my products were full sized!

And here are the products that came in my box this month:

image

The theme was American Beauty and there seemed to be a few cool things you could get in this box that I was eager to try. I really wanted to try the Balm cream blush palette and the waterproof top coat mascara from Anastasia Beverly Hills, which I received!

This is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Waterproof Top Coat – Deluxe Sample:

image (6)

This was one of the three American cult brand items that were guaranteed to be in the box. There was also one Nicole by O.P.I. nail polish in varying shades and the Balm cream blush. Some people were lucky enough to receive two of those!

Value: $23.55 (RRP is $39.00 for 5.3g)

This is the Innoxa Mineral Eyeshadow Trio in Nude – Full Sized:

image (2)image (1)

This product is not even worth sharing the swatch for. This had almost no pigmentation. I looked up the Innoxa training guide (here) to see the best way to apply it but it just said use a brush and you really wouldn’t pick up enough to bother using it so if you ever wondered about this product, I wouldn’t recommend it.

Value: RRP $14.95

These are the Designer Brands Paw Paw Lip treatment and Ointment – Full Sized:

image (7)

I kinda wish I got to skip the ointment because I own the Lucas’ Papaw Ointment already and I’ll probably use that over this Designer Brands one because most people swear by that one and not many people seem to talk about this or anything worth mentioning from that brand at all. But I will give it a go. The lip treatment should be interesting. I plan on using it at night before I go to sleep!

Value – Both RRP $4.99

This is the SHE Aromatherapy Fruit Shine Gloss in Raspberry – Full Sized:

image (8) image (9)

I really am not a fan of glosses in these kinds of tubes because you have pretty much no control of the gloss and if you’ve accidentally pushed too much out you can’t get it back in the tube. It is a really pretty colour and swatched nicely on my hand but I don’t know how much use I’d get out of this at all. I suppose that’s the gamble with these subscription boxes. This item isn’t even listed as one of the possible items you can receive on the bellabox July box page or on the SHE Aromatherapy website, in this shade.

Value: RRP $12.95

And this is the Natralus Pure 100% Aloe Vera Gel, it was a bonus gift in my box:

image (10)

Value: $0.15 (RRP $14.95 for 200ml)

This is supposed to be used over sunburnt skin which is a weird gift to give when Australia is right in the middle of winter but I’m sure it’ll come in handy in the summer time.

Total Value: $61.58 (or RRP $91.83)

If this was my first Bella Box I would probably stop my subscription because I hardly got anything I’d use. There was a serious amount of hype for this box from BellaBox so it is really disappointing to have received what I received. In previous boxes I’d be happy to use more than half, if not all items in the box. But this box has nothing special at all. The theme was American Beauty, based on the Fourth of July Holiday and a lot of people assumed that that would celebrate American Beauty Products. Or at least more so than just the one guaranteed item. Only one out of the six things I received were from an American company, which I think is pretty poor for an American themed box. The items could have even been in the American flag colours, I know I’d love a navy eyeliner. I think most people are upset by this box because we all had to wait so long to receive it and then it didn’t turn out to be anything special anyway. I am glad I received the Anastasia Beverly Hills item and I think if it wasn’t for that I would have been really really disappointed with this box.
