Saying Farewell to a Large Part of My Blogging Journey

Hey guys!

Today I am writing a rather sad post. I thought that it was something that you ought to know because it has been a large part of my blog for over a year now . For those who have come to my blog for these posts, I thought it would be good for you to know that you won’t be seeing these posts as frequently, if at all.

pink-divider-no-background-md

For just over a year, I’ve been a contact lens model for Adelaide Little Lens and you have been able to read review posts for different lenses, monthly. Even before being a lens model, I was a regular customer and I relied on the products for my cosplay, lolita and daily needs. Back when I was selected, they were already my favourite store to purchase lenses from because of their affordable prices and their location. It also felt really familiar to purchase from them because they were part of the cosplay scene here.

As of the end of last month, Adelaide Little Lens has now closed and it absolutely breaks my heart.

On a positive note, if you were interested in purchasing from them, you can still purchase the remaining in-stock lenses that they have and I believe that you can still use my discount ‘PastelSparkles’ but it will be until stock runs out.

So, you won’t be seeing a monthly lens review from me anymore. They will probably still be dotted here and there but I now have to do a bit of research into where to buy from. I was gifted three pairs from Adelaide Little Lens and if you’re interested in seeing those reviews, I am more than happy to review them for you guys because you can still purchase the lenses that were sold at Adelaide Little Lens, in other lens stores.

Here are the majority of the lens reviews that I did over the last year, you can click on the photos to go to the reviews.

MOTD: Cry Baby

Hey guys!

Today I’m going to be showing you a look that I teased a little bit on my Instagram. I don’t know if I have talked about this here on my blog before but I adore Melanie Martinez. I think that she is a fantastic musician and her first album, Cry Baby, was released fairly recently. With the release of her new album, she collaborated with Lime Crime to create a lipstick to help celebrate and I fell in love with the promo image so I thought that I would try to recreate it to the best of my ability! I hope that you enjoy!

This photo was me trying to recreate the pose but no one can be Melanie. I kind of wish that I had a split wig that looked like her hair because I’ve always admired her hair.

I also edited on the tear drops because that stuff never translates well when I create it. So I cheated a little haha.

Naturally, I also took about a thousand photos.

Here are the products that I used to create this look:

NYX White Liquid Liner
NYX Macaron Lippie in Blue Velvet (it is a close dupe for Lime Crime’s Cry Baby)
BH Cosmetics Galaxy Chic Eyeshadow Palette
Face of Australia blush in O Peachy!
Face of Australia HD Brow Kit
Maybelline HyperSharp Wing Liner
Covergirl Clump Crusher Mascara
eBay Lashes

I also used the GEO Princess Mimi lenses in Almond Brown and you can purchase them from here.

Review: i.Fairy Luna Violet

Hey guys!
Today I’m going to be talking about another pair of lenses that you can purchase from my favourite lens shop, Adelaide Little Lens! As you can see in the title, I will be writing about the i.Fairy Luna Violet lenses. I was so excited to receive this pair and after the last two i.Fairy lenses went so well, I was feeling super positive about these!

Company: i.Fairy
Diameter: 16.2mm
Base Curve: 8.6mm
Water Content: 55%
Life Span: 12 Months

For the first time ever, I don’t have a separate photo to show what it looks like without makeup because I put the lenses in after I’d applied makeup. I wouldn’t recommend doing this, despite many YouTubers and beauty bloggers doing this. You can get makeup under the lens or have dirt and bacteria on your fingers and then put them in your eye. I was just wanting to test these at the last minute, so I already had makeup on.

Design: 4/5

I’d describe this pair as the ‘party on my face’ lens because the colours are so vibrant. My only negative with the design is that they don’t blend with my eye colour at all but that doesn’t worry me too much. The design is simply spectacular. I like these in the same way that I loved the Casper Green lenses, I think that they just make such a statement and with the right kind of makeup, they can really look stunning.

Enlargement: 5/5
This pair of lenses did a fabulous job, as you can see, of making my eyes look quite large and round. I think that these would best suit some eyelashes because they already look unnatural, you may as well go the whole way haha.

Comfort: 5/5
I wore this pair for a 3 hours and experienced no irritation, which is fairly normal for me. They are very comfortable and these would make great lenses for conventions or days when you want to look really special (every day).

Overall: 5/5
I really enjoy these lenses. They were very easy to apply. I love the way they look and I think that these would be suitable for many different looks but would be best for cosplay or creative makeup, not so much for casual unless that’s your style. I just think that these are gorgeous. If I had to compare this pair with the last two pairs of lenses, I would say that the Casper Green are my favourite, this pair is a close second and the Cara Brown, third. I loved all of the designs and I think that they are all really gorgeous lenses and would recommend all of them.

Here are some photos of me wearing the lenses:

The lenses are just so cute, I love them so much. If you’re interested in picking up a pair, you can purchase them from Adelaide Little Lens. If you use the code ‘Pastelsparkles’ you’ll also receive a 10% discount! You’re welcome, friends.

NYX FACE Awards: Mermaids Mermen

Hey guys!

I’m a little late with this post, I didn’t have a whole lot of time in the break to do much as far as ‘creative’ makeup goes so I wasn’t able to get this up on time but I have it here now and I hope that you enjoy!

pink-divider-no-background-md

So the theme of this challenge was Mermaids and Mermen and I did think about possibly doing a merman makeup look but then I had some other ideas and yeah. I actually was set on doing something completely different to what I ended up with! Today, I will be sharing with you my Futuristic – Galaxy Mermaid.

18

When I originally thought about it, I wanted to do a galaxy pattern on my forehead or around my eyes like a bit of a mask and incorporate bubble stars around my head but then I kinda felt like it had been done before so I thought, what about a mermaid from the future, a world where technology has really taken over and I thought it would be cool to do something natural in an unnatural setting. Well as natural as a mermaid can be, anyway. I don’t know if this is a totally original idea, I’m sure someone has thought about it before. I was heavily inspired by the Monster High doll Elle Eedee. She’s a robot and she’s going to be in the new Boo York Boo York movie and she’s definitely my favourite of the new dolls. I was even considering drawing on her little power button that sits between her eyebrows but I didn’t want to make a robot mermaid look so I stayed away from that.

215

So for the eyes, I went a little bit out of my comfort zone but still not very far. Honestly, I’d really like to do something really really wild but I get so nervous that I’ll just destroy what I’ve created so I don’t stray too far out of what I know that I’m capable of. I did a sort of halo eye look. I’m still not too certain about what qualifies as a halo eye but you’ll know when you see it. I just kept building shadows on top of each other, starting with the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette, a few Inglot eyeshadows and Ice Queen from Makeup Geek.

20

I still added dots that are meant to represent stars in my dark purple eyeshadow. I wanted a little galaxy flavour haha. And a line of white liner that runs from my water line out to a wing for the ‘Milky Way’ haha. In the centre of my lid I used NYX roll on shimmer in Platinum to make my eyelids pop and sparkle. I also used it on my inner corner, there was so much glitter going on. In the future, glitter will always be on trend.

19

It doesn’t show up much in the photos but I do have some purple side burns because I tried to contour with purple and it basically looked like a line of zinc had been drawn on my face and I couldn’t blend it out for the life of me but it didn’t really hinder any photos so I suppose it wasn’t a total failure.

17

I think that in this world, humans know about the mermaids because it’s hard to hide anything with people recording everything that they see and documenting life with such ease. With the world forever changing and creatures forever adapting, merfolk can now switch between their fishy tail and a nice set of legs so that they can live in either environment. You wouldn’t be able to tell who’s a merperson either because everyone has gone all Capitol and everyone wears crazy makeup and dresses up because everyone is creative and likes to express themselves.

22

I hope that you enjoyed this post and hopefully with the next challenge, I can really push myself to be as creative as possible. I hope that you have a fantastic day!

Hey guys!

Design: 5/5
I love the colour of these lenses. The colours remind me of dinosaurs, which is why I wore them in my Jurassic World look. The design is very simple but they are really spectacular to look at. I also like that this pair has a thinner outer rim because it doesn’t make the lenses look too ridiculous. I don’t really have any negatives as far as design goes, just maybe that they aren’t very wearable but that’s also due to the size.

Enlargement: 5/5
This pair of lenses did a fabulous job, as you can see, of making my eyes look quite large. These would best suit some eyelashes.

MOTD: Emilia Clarke Inspired

I have been lusting over this gorgeous makeup for a very long time and I’d always wanted to try it. Seeing as I’d just received the NYX white liquid liner from the USA, I thought it was the perfect time to give it a go and spread some love for my Khaleesi. Now I will preface this post by saying that white liner is much more unforgiving than black liner and I think it will take me a bit of time to get used to doing it but I will still share my attempts haha.

This is the look that I was inspired by:

eyeliner (1)

So here is my attempt at this look:

11650859_10153218220232530_1177088043_n                                               11536987_10153218219917530_581483553_n
For the eyes, I used Shiro Cosmetics Alpaca Picnic from the New Leaf collection, I’ll be writing a review of the collection in the next week or two. I blended it in with Shiro Cosmetics Little Bird and a few medium brown eyeshadows. I used Too Faced’s Marzipan from the Chocolate Bar Palette to highlight the inner third of the eye. As I mentioned earlier, I used NYX White Liquid Liner to line my eyes. Initially, I drew quite a thin line on my lid and then when the white drowned out my lashes, I applied falsies and it completely covered the line and this is where I really went wrong haha. I tried my best to draw a line again beside the lashes but even though I moved the lashes out of the way, they still managed to get some eye liner on them. I had to do two layers of liner to make it very opaque and one eye had a more opaque wing than the other. Hopefully my next attempt will be more successful!

Review: i.Fairy Cara Brown

It has been a while since I’d done a  lens review for Adelaide Little Lens! I’m quite excited about this one. I’d never worn contacts this big and I’ve also never worn lenses by this brand so it was quite an experience.
So, anyway, today I am reviewing i.Fairy Cara Brown*:

Company: i.Fairy

Design: 4/5
I love the colour of these lenses. I’ve always been fond of brown lenses and these are quite a pair! The design is very simple but it makes it look much more natural, despite being gigantic haha. I also like that this pair has a thinner outer rim because it doesn’t make the lenses look too ridiculous. The only negative I have, which isn’t really a negative, is that I wished the middle section blended more with my eyes but that’s only a really small negative.

Enlargement: 5/5
This pair of lenses did a fabulous job, as you can see, of making my eyes look quite large. These would best suit some eyelashes, which you can see in the photos below.

Comfort: 4/5
I wore this pair for a good 6 hours and experienced no irritation. I was, however, quite stressed out when I forgot to bring my lens case if I experienced any issues so I initially felt all feelings as wrong haha. But they are very comfortable.

Overall: 4/5
I really enjoy these lenses. They were surprisingly easy to put in my eyes. I love the way they look and I think that these would be suitable for many different looks, lolita, cosplay or casual.
