Last Sunday, I took a 10 minute break from work to run up to Target to purchase the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream Vault for 40% off. When I first started this blog, I was a big fan of the Soft Matte Lip Creams and I wore them almost every day. They eventually dried out and I had to remove them from my collection, I never repurchased any shades but I’ve always been fond of them. When NYX released this vault of 36 mini Soft Matte Lip Creams, I knew I wanted it because they had a lot of colours that hadn’t been released in Australia that I’d been wanting to try, plus they were mini so I actually have a chance of finishing them before they dry out. Today I just wanted to do a swatch post and minor commentary. I hope that you enjoy!
I’ve separated them into groups of 9, from lightest to darkest
Of this set, I had previously owned Zurich and Cannes. I wasn’t into nudes much when I first bought these. Having tried all of the shades on now, the shades I previously owned didn’t suit me very well so I’m not sure why I picked them haha. Cannes suited me much better than Zurich.
Of this set, I owned Tokyo, Antwerp, and Milan. Tokyo was always a bit too light and warm for me but I know I bought it because I love Japan. I also bought Antwerp and Milan because I have Italian heritage and I had done a lot of study on Belgium so I felt connected to those places even if the colours didn’t suit me as well as some others. I really was looking forward to owning Rome and Budapest!
Of this set, I had previously only owned Prague. I loved Prague and it was probably the shade that suited me the most out of the shades I’d already owned. I really wanted to love Addis Ababa but mine was quite dry and I couldn’t achieve full opacity. I will try mixing it with Duraline in the future and see if I can get more pigment out of it.
Of this set, I’d only previously owned Monte Carlo and I adore this shade so I’m really excited to have it back. Madrid and Monte Carlo are perfect reds for Christmas. I was most excited about this set of colours because I really wanted to love Havana, Moscow and Transylvania. Not sure if this is the same for all batches of these shades but they all lack pigment and it wasn’t due to them being dry. Moscow in particular was extremely disappointing because the shade was so pretty but I would never step foot out of the house with a streaky-looking blue because it looks more like zinc than a bold lipstick. The whole bottom row was very exciting for me and I can’t wait to wear them.
I hope that you enjoyed the swatch fest! Which shades do you love the most?
