NYX Face Awards: Optical Illusion

Hey guys!

Today is my attempt at a makeup related optical illusion. Now, I want to preface this by saying this really isn’t my strong suit at all and I really don’t have all of the tools for this challenge. I still wanted to give it a go anyway and even though I think this is a complete fail, I wanted to share it with you. I also thought that I should finish all of the FACE Awards challenges because I’d set out to try them all regardless of how challenging they may be for me. So, I hope that we can all have a laugh at my lame attempt at this challenge haha.

I had really googled and googled for some good ideas for optical illusion makeup and the things that looked least challenging were body art. I really wanted to have a try at making my hands look as if the fingers had been cut away from my palm with only my bones exposed and well… I don’t really know how believable I made this one out to be.

I know I really needed to add a lot more shading shading to a lot of the elements because it got really washed out when I used my phone ring light. Never the less, I’m sure I can come back to this one day and do a comparison of how I’ve improved. I would like to try more optical illusion makeup art in the future.

Products I used:

NYX Jumbo Pencils in Black Bean and Milk
Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks in Redrum and Unicorn Blood (probably should have just used Unicorn Blood)
Savvy by DB Eyeliner Pencil in Brown

So even though this was a fail, I had a lot of fun trying out something new and learning that I’d really like to do more of this sort of thing! I’m sad that this is our last NYX FACE Awards challenge of the year but I’m really excited to see how the Top 12 do with this challenge and see who wins the competition!
