Firstly, I want to quickly say a big thank you to everyone who left such positive feedback on my Labyrinth post. No comment went unnoticed and it really brightened my day. Today’s post is all about my favourite television shows! I love to watch shows when I need to unwind after doing a bunch of work. I know that this isn’t beauty related but I know that lots of people love to be entertained and if I introduce you to a new show that you fall in love with, then my work is done. I hope that you enjoy!
1. Steven Universe
Steven Universe is a really special show to me and it is actually the subject of my honours thesis. Children’s television is really stepping up and this show is silly, smart and just a really great time. This show is about human-like crystal gems who have come to Earth to protect it from evil. There are great songs and great animation. The episodes are only 10 minutes each and after you’ve binge watched a few, you’ll be hooked. I can’t recommend this show enough.
This show is EVERYTHING to me right now. If you love a bit of time travel, the Scottish Highlands, and very attractive actors, you’re going to absolutely love this show. It is based off of the book series by Diana Gabaldon, which I’m starting to read. I usually don’t like love triangles but this show portrays it really differently. In the beginning of the show, Claire is married to a man named Frank and once she goes back in time, she meets Jamie, which she forms a romantic relationship with. It’s not really cheating (which I’m super against) because she doesn’t think that she’ll ever return to the life she had with Frank and she doesn’t intend on being with Jamie but events bring them together. You’ll have to watch the show to understand what I mean but I’d highly recommend it. It’s half way through it’s second season at the moment!
3. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
This show has got to have one of the best plots I’ve ever encountered. Kimmy Schmidt is a ‘mole-woman’, she’s been trapped in a bunker for 15 years and the show is about her learning how to act in present times. Not only does it have the catchiest theme song but it also has some of the most lovable characters. It’s just finished it’s second season and I hope that it goes on forever because I love it so much and I don’t know what I’d do without it.
4. Parks and Recreation
I really need to rewatch this show because it is comedy gold and if you haven’t seen it, you NEED IT. I will warn you, the first season is garbage but it’s short and once you make it through that period, it’ll all be worth it. The characters are all hilarious and if I need a relatable screencap, I know that this show will never let me down. I’m also convinced that if I was more like Leslie Knope, I’d be a much better human being. This show also taught me the dangerous habit of treating myself. NOW WATCH IT (again?).
5. Orange is the New Black
I begged my boyfriend to watch this show with me and now I think he loves it more than I do! You’re going to hate characters, you’re going to love characters and you’re going to cry a lot (if you’re me). I can’t even begin to explain how cool this story is. I don’t particularly like Piper or Alex and their story line but the rest of the characters are so good. I’ve only watched two seasons so far and the fourth season is starting next month and I’m super excited to catch up with it. I love learning about each of the inmates’ stories and I love how they interact within the prison. It’s definitely a must-watch show.
I hope that you enjoyed this post! Let me know what you’re favourite show is! I love finding new things to watch.
