I’m afraid that this might be another unimaginative idea but I am actually petrified of any type of horror movie, tv show, game, etc. I was almost going to just skip this one but the point of this series is that it is a challenge for me so I thought I’d still give it my best go. For this look, I thought that I would pick a creature that I am very fond of and I thought that it was probably best suited to in terms of skill level. I’m extremely self conscious about this post because I hardly ever pose in different ways, I usually am smiling or looking semi serious. For this post I did attempt to act the part and I would greatly appreciate feedback on this!
Here is my look for the NYX FACE Awards – Paranormal Activity:
For this look, I was really set on trying to turn myself into a banshee. So I thought I’d give a little background on what a banshee is and what I interpret it to be. A banshee is a female spirit that is featured in Irish mythology, who is a messenger of death. She takes people to the underworld. Remember not to pick up a comb if you see it on the ground, you must never pick it up, or the banshees, having placed it there to lure unsuspecting humans, will spirit such gullible humans away. I took a lot of inspiration from the Witch in Left 4 Dead 2 that wails and if you’re seen by her, you’re pretty much dead, if not by her, by all of the zombies that were alerted to the sound of her screeching. So, in a way, they are quite similar creatures.
Makeup-wise, I used the NYX Jumbo Pencil in Black Bean as a base for the dark shadows. I lined my eyes, not worrying about being precise. I then smudged the pencil in with my finger really messily, there’s nothing about this look that is particularly neat. I then used the black eyeshadow from the Coastal Scents Revealed 2 palette and covered all the areas I’d covered in Black Bean. I then blended a burgundy eyeshadow from the same palette into the outer parts of the black to make the look really grungy looking. I used both a brush and my fingers to blend the shadow. I then took Shiro Cosmetics Little Bird pigment and blended that on the outer edges of the burgundy shadow. I used two Me Now Long Lasting Lipglosses in 02 and 33 for the lips. I also lined them with NYX liner in Toast. I wanted to try and do a bit of an ombre look.
And that is basically the look! I hope that the first photos weren’t too frightening hahaha. I’m looking forward to the next challenge!
